My History |
I came to America as a political refugee at the age of 11. My family and I settled in Norfolk, Virginia. We were the only Vietnamese family within 50 miles radius. I taught myself English by using a Vietnamese-English dictionary during my first two years in American school. In order to complete my homework, each night I have to translate English into Vietnamese so I can understand the materials. After two years of hard work, I received a full scholarship to enroll into a private school where I graduated with honor.
